Rory McIlroy is certainly disappointed in his latest performance

As in seven major championship titles for McIlroy. That is correct, after watching McIlroy fade down the Magnolia Lane backstretch, I've never been so confident.Columnists from around the globe are quickly comparing McIlroy's disappearing act to Woods Hit A Nice Shot In Masters the famed Greg Norman collapse way back in 1996.Norman, as it was written then and now, choked away a six-stroke lead by shooting a final-round 78.The bogey binge allowed Nick Faldo, not yet knighted, to pocket the green jacket after a sterling 67.Norman, however, already was a seasoned veteran at that stage of his career, coupled with a reputation of fast starts and shoddy finishes. My guess is that McIlroy's final-round 80, while obviously frustrating to the professional and dramatic to the golf masses, will only catapult the 21-year-old from Northern Ireland to bigger and better things.Think about it.Only the embattled Woods had similar command over the lurching fairways and slate-top greens at Augusta National at such a young age. And we all know what kind of feeding frenzy Tiger went on after blistering the '97 field by 12 strokes. You can talk about the mental trauma all you want, how losing a four-stroke lead in any tournament, let alone a major, can make you question your overall toughness.
